Juniper Bonsai
Juniper Bonsai are rapid growers and respond easily to training. This non-flowering evergreen has long branches for easy styling. They can be grown indoors or outdoors but should be kept outside during its dormant winter season.
There are many varieties of Juniper Bonsai - Japanese Garden Junipers, Shimpaku, Chinese Junipers, Green Mound - are just some of the different varieties.
Your Juniper will require watering on a regular basis. Test the soil for moisture daily. Add water as needed. Do not let the roots stand in water for long periods of time. And also don't let the soil dry out for very long either. Over time you will work out a watering schedule.
Give your Juniper Bonsai filtered sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight.
Purchase an organic liquid fertilizer for your Bonsai. Follow the directions. Consider fertilizing it once every two weeks in the spring and fall.
Repot it every two years when it is young and every three to five years once it's five or six years old. Do your repotting during the spring or fall. After repotting place it in a cool and shady spot to recover.
In the winter let it cool down to under 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Protect it from dry winds and extreme cold.
A Juniper Bonsai will give you years of pleasure. So try one and see.
