Japanese Maple Bonsai
Native to China and Japan known as the Acer palmatum. Easy to grow and forgiving. Leaves change color in the fall.
You want the trunk to be at least four inches in diameter. If you can find one that size to start with; you will be able to train to many different styles.
Once you have your Japanese Maple Bonsai tree, you are ready to try cultivating and turning your tree into a great looking Bonsai.
Proper care:
1. Early morning sun but shade in the afternoon.
2. Water daily in a pot with drainage so the roots don't drown. Keep the soil moist.
3. Fertilize every 3-4 weeks using a slow acting fertilizer. Follow the fertilizer directions.
4. After repotting don't fertilizer for a couple of months. No need to feed for 1 or 2 months of the summer.
5. Repot every year or two.
The Japanese Maple makes a wonderful Bonsai. Try one and enjoy it.
