First Step in Picking a Bonsai

Your first step to getting your own Bonsai Tree is to decide where you are going to keep it.  This location can be inside or outside.  Depending upon your location and the type of Bonsai Tree you purchase, you may not be able to keep your Bonsai outside all year round.  So keep that in mind.

Next get a general idea of the temperature ranges and the amount of sun light and shade the location gets during the four seasons.  This will help you purchase the best Bonsai Tree for your location.  It is definitely easier to pick a location inside because your home stays in a limited range of temperatures year round.

Now  you know the location and have a basic idea of the temperature ranges and amount of direct sun it gets, it's time to pick a Bonsai Tree.  At this point you might find a local Bonsai club. 

Attend a meeting or two and learn about the types of Bonsai Trees  are successfully raised near you.  Club members can be a great resource to you.  They can also point you to where you can buy the best Bonsai Trees.

If there isn't a local club then find a local store that specializes in growing Bonsai.  If you can't find one then go online.  Many stores online offer a lot of helpful information and will answer your questions.  They want you to have a good experience so you will buy more and recommend them to others.  Remember if you can't find a local store the Internet is only an email away.
